Lara: This is why I don’t tell you people things.
Friend 1: Tell us everything.
Friend 2: Except the parts that make you look guilty 👀
Lara: Goodnight.
Friend 1: It’s 4:12pm.
And somewhere in another chat…
Adam: I’m not thinking about her.Friend: You mentioned her 3 times in 10 minutes.
Adam: That’s not thinking. That’s… observation.
Friend: You’re in love.
Adam: I’m going offline.
This Makes Me Laugh
Because when you strip away the plot, when you remove the tension and the structure….Characters are just people.
And people are funny. Messy. Defensive. Soft; in strange ways.
And they say everything..well type more like..rather than say the truth out loud.
I enjoy imagining my characters outside the story. Not just what they do…
But how they exist in ordinary moments.
It helps make the characters feel real to me.
And when they feel real to me, typically they usually feel real to you too.

After coming down from my high with last week’s TEDx and immediately immersing myself in Lara and Adam’s love story this week, I plan to spend this weekend immersing myself in another story.
It’s off to the cinema to watch Michael.
